“Healthy ecosystems for resilient societies” is the theme chosen for the first Latin American regional ecosystem services conference to take place in CIAT Headquarters, at Palmira, Colombia, on 18–21 October 2016, within the framework of the Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP).
The date of this event, which was jointly organized by the Alexander von Humboldt Research Institute of Biological Resources, ESP, and CIAT, seems a bit far in the future, but not for those interested in taking part.
This regional conference calls upon scientists, community, politicians, and practitioners in the region to discuss the role ecosystem services should play to achieve sustainable and inclusive development in Latin America. It is thus important to respond to the call and get involved in this event, sharing experiences and knowledge by proposing a session and filling out the registration form before May 2, 2016.
Sessions are designed to facilitate a dialogue on how an ecosystem services approach can build partnerships, incorporating inclusiveness, resilience, and environmental justice in a region such as Latin America, characterized by large social inequalities.
The doors are also open to those who can support the event as sponsors and would like to get engaged in the organization of this regional event, which would reinforce their commitment to use ecosystem services in the generation environmentally friendly solutions in Latin America.
