CIAT-Cirad-Embrapa rice researchers meet in Goiania to strengthen collaboration

On March 20th to 22nd, a meeting was held at Embrapa Rice and Beans Research Center (CNPAF) in Goiania, Brazil, to strengthen the rice breeding alliance among CIAT, Cirad and Embrapa. Scientists from these three institutions highlighted the advances made in rice breeding, molecular breeding, application of recurrent selection and phenotyping and discussed the next steps to strengthen collaboration among them. FLAR representative was invited and attended the event to better understand the alliance and to explore opportunities for collaboration.

The three institutions made commitments* to enrich the Technical Cooperation Project (TCP) established in 2014, which aimed at strengthening collaboration towards germplasm and methodologies exchange and to widen the impact of rice variety development to Latin America.
