Following up a successful implementation of Partial Food Systems Baseline Assessment at the Vietnam Benchmark Sites in 2018 under Agriculture for Nutrition and Health program (A4NH), the food systems profile is a visualized and collaborative product led by International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) in collaboration with local authorities in the benchmark sites along rural-urban transect in Vietnam to provide a synopsis of the food systems of three sites in Vietnam.
The profiles aim to characterize the existing situation, highlight key challenges, and provide a baseline for measuring and monitoring future changes. The profiles give an overview of the main food system components, outcomes, and drivers through a set of metrics. Emphasis is put on nutrition and health, economic and environmental outcomes, diets, consumer behavior, food environment, food supply, drivers of changes, and investment opportunities for innovations in order to identify actionable policy recommendations as well as prioritizesocio-economic development plans at the local level.
From August to November 2019, three validation workshops were held to share preliminary results and get feedback from different sectors. Participants of this engagement are from different stakeholders of the profile development to be able to validate the identified drivers, outcomes and prioritized actions of the food systems at the three benchmark sites. After the workshops, various issues were discussed on recommendations and ways forwards to accomplish the food systems profiles along the rural-urban transect in Vietnam. The final versions of the profiles of the three benchmark sites are expected to be shared at the end of April 2020 and will be published on the A4NH CIAT website, http://a4nh.cgiar.org/.
